This chapter gives a brief introduction of the technological standards, challenges, and open research areas in health monitoring based on the internet of things (IoT). In particular, low-energy implementation, signal processing and machine learning challenges, communication constraints, and security concerns have been reviewed. This is a growing field of research both in academia and in industry and a timely topic for focussed cross-disciplinary research to address the electronic and remote healthcare challenges.
