Notes

This dataset contains the Met Office Unified Model data from the aerosol-free simulations of the atmosphere of WASP-96b. The dataset includes 4 simulations: (1) 1x solar metallicity simulation (mdh_0) with the chemical equilibrium scheme (equilibrium), (2) 1x solar metallicity with the chemical kinetics scheme (kinetics), (3) 10x solar metallicity (mdh_1) with the chemical equilibrium scheme, and (4) 10x solar metallicity with the chemical kinetics scheme. Each simulation was run for 1000 Earth days, except for the 10x solar metallicity kinetics simulation, which was run for 1500 Earth days, with instantaneous output produced every 10 days. The dataset consists of 3 sub-datasets: input parameters, climate variables and transmission spectra. The input parameters sub-dataset contains the stellar and planetary parameters used in the simulations. The climate variables sub-dataset contains 3D fields for the following variables: eastward wind (u), northward wind (v), upward air velocity (w), air pressure, air temperature and mole fractions of CH₄, CO, CO₂, H₂O, HCN, NH₃, H₂ and He in air, averaged over the last 200 simulation days. All climate variables are presented either at a common height-latitude-longitude grid (on_hlevs) or interpolated from geometric height to log-spaced pressure levels covering 10⁷-10² Pa and presented at a common pressure-latitude-longitude grid (on_plevs). The transmission spectra sub-dataset contains the simulated full, morning and evening limb transmission spectra. Input parameters are stored in .json files, climate variables in netCDF (.nc) files and transmission spectra in .csv files. The dataset does not require any specific software to access/analyse the data. The article associated with this dataset is available in ORE at: http://hdl.handle.net/10871/135371
