The first performance of the composition took place on 25 September 2009 during the De-Placing Future Memory second Workshop, at the Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies, the University of Exeter. The conductor was Marion Wood, and the performers were the Exeter Music Scholars. The piece explores the idea of de-placing future memory in a number of musical and philosophical ways, through reference to national remembrance, religious remembrance with future reference, and compositional devices. The flavour of the piece is celebratory without being fanfare and announcing without being regal. The funding for the composition was provided by the University of Exeter Arts and Culture Initiative.en_GB
