The Purpose of Meaningful Occupation for People Living with Dementia in Residential Care Settings

Abstract

The overall aim of this thesis was to determine what meaning people living with dementia are perceived to have experienced through occupation and activities to create a conceptual understanding of the different purposes that have been gained through occupation. As part of this, a secondary aim was to use this conceptual understanding to inform the development of a practice resource that could support understanding of the meaning people living with dementia gain through occupation. The primary research methods used were Meta-ethnography and Q methodology.
