This paper proposes a digital twin framework for the Festo Cyber-Physical Factory through the discrete event simulation (DES) method. As a virtual representation of a physical system, such a twin facilitates seamless bidirectional communication between the physical and virtual components. This integration enables real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and process optimization, particularly in production lines. The proposed framework deploys Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) to establish a reliable connection between the physical factory and its digital counterpart, ensuring effective data exchange. This paper explores the technical facets of developing this digital twin, examining its functionalities, prospective applications, and its practical contribution to improving operational efficiency and decision-making.en_GB
