This provides a full walk-through, with R code and a sample data set, to apply a stochastic actor-orientated model (SAOM). Based on the guidance in the thesis chapter (Chapter 7 of David Newton Fisher's thesis, submitted February 2016) and the guide supplied here, users should be able to implement, with full understanding, a SAOM to investigate the change in social interactions over time of a population of wild field crickets (Gryllus campestris). I also incorporate a behaviour co-variable into the analysis. I have also supplied a visual representation of the network (Fig S1), and figures showing both unsatisfactory (Figs S2-4) and satisfactory (Figs S5-7) goodness-of-fit plots.en_GB
