The article compares Uhland's "Wanderlieder" from 1815 to Hermann Puettmann's "Wanderbilder" published in the "Deutsches Buergerbuch fuer 1856". Both collections of wanderlust poems can be seen at the forefront of literary evolution and bourgeois thinking, but the difference in structure reflect the transition from more closed forms of literary cycles to more open forms which transgress such drive to unity, thus reflecting changes which have taken place over the thirty years that lay between the publications of both collections. Puettmann's poems then read in the context of early forms of proletariat literature within the Vormaerz period.en_GB
