dc.description.abstract | This presentation, delivered as part of the 'Science at Court (I): Poesis' panel at the 2017 International Medieval Congress (Leeds), investigates Rauf de Lenham's 'Kalender' (1256) as a vehicle for the transmission of technical knowledge. Through a study of the knowledge, methods and attitude evident in the text, I argue that Rauf operated with an acute awareness of what, how and when to teach, and who understood how the science of the calendar could sit alongside life at court. | en_GB |
