This item contains all of the fronts of the postcards produced by school pupils during workshops conducted as part of the AHRC-funded 'Future Memory in Place' project. They are firstly divided by school, and then divided into ZIP files containing up to 15 postcards (a link is also provided, above, to a small selection of postcard fronts which are uploaded as individual images, not compressed into ZIP files, to make browsing easier). The images on the front of the postcards represent one part of a 360 degree study of the skylines as seen from the schools’ grounds. More information on this activity is available in Appendix B of the AHRC Project Report (link provided above). Some postcards have been censored due to them containing sensitive information relating to children; such censorship is made obvious using only a black box to conceal this information. Some of these groups did not require any censorship, and these are clearly listed below. All of the postcards which have been censored have also been uploaded in their uncensored form as another item in this community (link provided), though access is restricted. The AHRC-funded 'Future Memory in Place' project united visual art and ancient history through contemporary landscape painting and research on migration in the ancient world, archaeology, manuscripts, objects, journeys, uncharted maps and music. It was enacted through school workshops and community gatherings around Swansea, and gave over 2,500 school pupils the opportunity to learn about how people relate to the place where they live or have lived, and how memories and the experience of migration can be expressed in art.
