dc.description.abstract | This chapter examines the role of archaeology in medieval studies in Great Britain. Medieval archaeology has changed beyond all recognition during the twentieth century, emerging from what was little more than an antiquarian pastime to become a respected academic discipline. It has also great potential for growth, for new methods are constantly being developed, bold conservation and restoration projects under way, and major discoveries continue to be made. | |
