dc.description.abstractRussia is increasingly active as a negotiator and mediator in a range of contemporary conflicts. In each case, Russia’s approach to conflict resolution differs significantly from that of Western democracies and most international organizations. It is best understood as coercive mediation, in which negotiations and coercive military actions are interlinked.en_GB
