dc.description.abstract | This dataset contains output from three SPH simulations and some of the data produced during the analysis of the calculations used for the Bate (2022b) article "The statistical properties of stars at redshift, z=5, compared with the present epoch" published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, which is available in ORE at: http://hdl.handle.net/10871/131861 | en_GB |

dc.description | This repository contains three datasets from the original smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) calculations for the associated paper (Bate 2022b, submitted Sept 2022), including the SPH dump files that were used to make Figures 3-7 in the paper. There are 3 new SPH calculations discussed in the paper, each performed using 35 million SPH particles, but using different metallicities. The calculations were all performed with an interstellar radiation field (ISRF) that had a cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR) component that was appropriate for a redshift of z=5. The metallicities correspond to solar metallicity (METAL1), 1/10 solar metallicity (METAL01) and 1/100 solar metallicity (METAL001). Input and output files from each calculation are found in the zip files that begin with BATE2022B_REDSHIFT5_METAL*. For example, BATE2022B_REDSHIFT5_METAL01_PAPER.zip contains the input and output files from the calculation with 1/10 solar metallicity. The output files include ASCII files outputting global properties of the calculation at the times that dump files were written (filenames beginning with the letters "clR"), and Fortran binary files (beginning with the letter P in the Analysis sub-directories) that give sink particle properties throughout the calculations. The P-files can be read using the Fortran programme included in the repository: ptmass_simple_MPI_2.f . For each of the three calculations, 4 full SPH dump files are provided. The first, called CLU0000 for each calculation, provides the SPH initial conditions for that calculation. The other 3 dump files for each calculation were written at 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 initial cloud free-fall times. These files also begin with the letters "CLU". They were used to generate Figures 3-7 in the paper. The SPH dump files (and other Fortran binary files) were written in big endian format and generated by the sphNG code. The SPH dump files can be read, visualised, and manipulated using the free, publicly available SPLASH visualisation code (which reads sphNG dump files), written by Daniel Price, that can be downloaded from: http://users.monash.edu.au/~dprice/splash/ Some SPLASH configuration files that were used to generate figures for the paper are provided in the datasets. Animations associated of the calculations can be found at: http://www.astro.ex.ac.uk/people/mbate/Cluster/clusterRedshift.html | en_GB |
