This report presents the results of geophysical survey (magnetometer) of land at Membury Court, Membury, East Devon (Figure 1; ST 26364 03803). The site comprises two irregular-shaped fields north of the main farm complex. The survey was undertaken by Dr C. Smart and Dr B. Pears (Department of Archaeology, University of Exeter) between the 12th and 15th July 2010. The survey was commissioned by Mr and Mrs L. Denny of Membury Court Farm in response to a Brief issued by Cressida Whitton, Archaeologist, Devon County Council Historic Environment Service (DCCHES Ref. Arch/AE/ED 15917). Natural England provided funding for the work. The purpose of the survey was to define the extent, nature and significance of any sub-surface archaeological remains within the two fields, in order to inform appropriate decision and management in response to proposed change of land use as part of an Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA) scheme.en_GB
