The aim of this paper is to present the North cemetery of Knossos in order to conclude to probable outcomes concerning the social stratification and social structure of the contemporary to the cemetery settlement of the Dark Ages of Knossos. I shall start with a brief presentation of the Greek Dark Ages, in terms of the general picture of their settlements and burial customs, in order to understand the general framework within which the cemetery and society of Knossos belonged. In addition, an analysis of mortuary archaeology is necessary so as to determine the importance of mortuary evidence, the methodologies proposed and the various perspectives introduced within the field of archaeology. Finally, the fourth chapter of this paper deals with the analysis of the North cemetery of Knossos, which consists of a general presentation of the North cemetery of Knossos, an analysis of its spatial inner and intra organisation and an analysis of the various counterparts of the burial contexts in order to present my assumptions concerning the social realities of Knossos during the Dark Ages.en_GB
