As stated in the introduction, this book aimed to bring together research-based insights concerning the education of teachers of RE from different European countries, guided by the question of how the quality of teaching and learning in the subject can be improved through teacher education. Across the chapters in this volume, the authors have described and assessed different models of teacher education for RE. Building upon this, existing research on RE teacher education has been presented and critically reviewed. Finally, the chapters include many constructive proposals for the further development of RE teacher education and for future research projects. While these contributions focus on developments and projects in specific countries, this conclusion tries to summarise, interlink, and reflect upon their outcomes in a cross-national perspective.
