First presented as a paper at SBL, this chapter argues that 1 Pet 2.21-25 reflects knowledge of various traditions concerning Jesus' trial, suffering, and death, though the lack of specific verbal overlaps does not indicate literary dependence on the Synoptic Passion Narratives. Through the extensive use of Isa 53, the author in effect "scripturalizes" the Passion narrative in ways that would, of course, prove highly influential and significant.en_GB
