You have already been introduced to social and interpersonal issues in several previous chapters. Here, we’ll expand on many of the points made by the authors of these chapters so that, by the end of the chapter, you will have a good grasp of many the interpersonal complexities that affect young people, and how to support them
In this chapter there are three learning objectives:
Identify and understand schooling and teaching issues in relation to the sometimes complex social interactions that exist in the educational environment;
Describe the learning needs of all students who require support in social and interpersonal development, particularly students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder; and
Investigate, design, and implement strategies that facilitate teaching approaches for promoting successful peer associations and friendships among students.
