This article focuses on the missed opportunity for the European legislator to establish an additional layer of protection for vulnerable travellers in the new Directive 2015/2302 on package travel. First, I briefly introduce the notions of average and vulnerable consumers and their applicability in the travel sector. This is followed by the discussion of the current trends in the travel sector, with specific attention given to contracts concluded online. The last part includes recommendations for more protective measures, especially considering travellers' vulnerability due to their age.
